Joe Caruthers, Director of the Luther Community Service Center

Hi, my name is Joe Caruthers. I want to take a few minutes to introduce myself to those that follow the Luther Community Service Center. In January of 2025, I was asked to be the next director by both Chris and Chet.

I have been associated with the Community Center since 2007 while I was a Youth Minister at the Ridge Crest Church of Christ. Miss Ruby asked me if we could help out with the Christmas party and handing out gifts. How could I say no? Through the years, I would volunteer as much as I could - helping out when Mark, Carolynn and Chet were the directors.

It is my goal to serve our community and help those who are in need. On Mondays and Thursdays we have a devotional and prayer time. (It's my favorite time.) It is humbling when people trust us with their personal issues and to ask for prayer and guidance. I have learned that tears are part of the job description. I have asked our volunteers to go by only one rule, "If you know to do good, then do good."

I am a graduate of Oklahoma Christian University with a degree in Biblical Studies. I attend church at the Luther Church of Christ. I am also involved in Celebrate Recovery at the Memorial Road Church of Christ on Friday nights.
