Helping Families for Over Twenty Years

One in seven Oklahomans struggles with hunger every day.  Oklahoma is the fifth hungriest state in the nation.

The Luther Community Service Center, a nonprofit 501 (c)(3) organization, distributes food to approximately 160 needy families in Luther and operates a store for the families to get free used clothing, furniture, household goods and other miscellaneous items.

The Luther Community Service Center has been in operation for over twenty years due to support from area Churches of Christ and the diligence and tireless efforts of Ruby Stahl and her small army of volunteers. Without the help of the services provided by the center, many families would not have enough food and other necessities to make it through the month.

Help for the Holidays

Holidays can be particularly difficult for families already struggling to make ends meet.  The Service Center provides a food box with all the makings of a traditional Thanksgiving dinner to residents that qualify.

At the LCSC Annual Christmas Party, Christmas dinner is provided for the public and gift boxes filled with toys and clothing are  given to 250-300 needy children from the Luther area.

Each year at Easter, dinner is provided for Luther residents and an Easter egg hunt and Easter baskets are provided for all children who attend the dinner.
